Ms. Larionova, Senior Adviser at the Central Asia Institute for Strategic Studies (CAISS), is in charge of CAISS development, strategic planning and project management. With a background in International Relations, she has vast experience in working for international corporations with the focus on Central Asia and Caucasus from the business and marketing perspective. Her research interests include the concept of soft power and international security.
Ms. Larionova’s responsibilities in SEnECA include planning, reporting and project management. She wants to bring best practices from her expertise to the SEnECA project and contribute to its successful implementation.
Ms. Gussarova, Director of the Central Asia Institute for Strategic Studies (CAISS), is managing CAISS research and public activities. At the same time, she is working as a leading expert in transnational and cyber security, violent extremism and deradicalization on a permanent basis. Currently, she is chairing the national alumni association of the European George C. Marshall Center for Security Studies. Previously, she has worked as a senior research fellow at the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Ms. Gussarova graduated from Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies and the Elliott School of International Relations at the George Washington University in Kazakhstan. Among other occupations, she holds a position as senior lecturer at the Department of Social and Political Studies at the German-Kazakh University in Almaty.
Ms. Gussarova is leading SEnECA’s Working Package 2 – “Future Priorities for EU Policy-Making Towards Central Asia”, covering political, military and security relations between Central Asia and the EU. As Director of CAISS, she wants to greatly contribute to the SEnECA project by bringing in local knowledge and expertise on Central Asia.
